not sure if this is the right section for this .......

I am in the process of building a couple of metal , 10 round magazines that will work in a savage axis for myself .

if I go through the trouble of building a couple , it isn't that much more effort to build a few more .

so I was wondering is there any interest out there for something like this ?

all I have is a axis to test with , but these possibly may work with other savages that are center feed as well .

this is a 308 family based magazine .

the intent is to have it work without modification to the axis stock or action , just like a factory mag .

doing a rough estimate , cost would be around 120.00 each + shipping ..... but this isn't a offer for sale right now just a feeler .

if I make a few of these i'll set up a proper EE ad with pictures .

you could make them and sell them fine at that price I figure, not that your price of $120 each is the right number to draw people to buy it, simply because there isn't alternatives on the market (I know there is the dark eagle stuff from NR mag but I don't think there's anything else for the axis).

I'm almost interested to get one and I don't have an axis, simply because I'm not sure I'd ever have another opportunity to find one, and could easily sell it if I changed my mind...

I got the parts and did a trial mok up and it looks like it will work and feed very nicely ......

I also ran a cross a truck that was too good of a deal to pass up ....

so the mags will get put on hold for a couple weeks while I repair the truck and then put it up for sale ......... I get some time off and it seems like I end up working harder than at work .

on the positive side I think I figured out a simple way to mod some 308 mags to work in the ag42 .

I think some guy in the states was making some. If I recall correctly he was using g3 mags and the original savage mag. I've wondered if you can't just cut say an ar mag profile in the bottom plate of the axis mag and cut the feed lips off if the ar mag stick the two together with jb weld and/or rivets using the original feed lips on the axis mag.

a person could cut up 2 magazines .... or just figure out how to set up one mag and have a much neater looking product .

also if a guy reuses the savage mag , your using the plastic mag release . I plan on using a piece of spring steel .

I never hunt with a ten round mag...... But in my gsr I sure do love it for the range.... With axxis popularity, I bet you would have a winner in your hands..... And may be a really popular member really quickly!
