10 rounds at 600yds challenge, anyone?

Too much emphasis is put on shooting for group and not enough on hitting the middle.

It’s hard to achieve both. Some days you get close (9/10).

Shot with an AI AW off a Parker Hale floppypod.

The purpose of shooting this group was precision, accuracy can be readily achieved , in this instance, by having adjusted my elevation down a wee bit. With this precision I am happy that accuracy for my purpose is achievable. On the same target I tested my 7lb. 300 Winchester Magnum mountain rifle hunting load, and first shot hit the bull the other 3 shots are dipersed vertically over 7" just below the bull, shot off my pack. accurate enough again for my purposes of mule deer up to elk, standing at 600yds, my personal limit for standing game with that rifle. The AI/AT rig weighs 17lbs plus. I am not hunting with that. Those holes I patched before shooting the 308 group. (This fancy targets ain't cheap! So I try to get max use out of them).

Okedokey?

650 yards this afternoon with my 1-8" .223 700, 80 grain SMKs. Should have quit while I was ahead and not spoiled the group. There was only a 2 MOA wind, but the lulls caught me. There's a lot more than ten in there. 22 in fact.
