Would anbody be interested in starting up a 100 yard .22lr match here on Canadian gun nutz? We could have two separtate classes; iron sights and scope, both unlimited (unlimited weight, unlimited scope, any ammo, ect). I am still unsure on which target we could use but i think that it would be a lot of fun :)

This has been discussed a bit on one thread on this forum but i thought it would be best to bring it to everybody.

Whats your guys input?

Sounds good but around these parts i'll have no place to shooting 100 yards till after the snow goes . 'Bout the end of april .

Great Idea

Great Idea we do a similar match here in wainwright.
We put out paper targets at 35m, 50m, skeets at 65 and at 100m paper bullseyes then shoot from various positions for each range. Its fun to shoot and we generally have a very good turn out. Good luck with your match!

Thanks for the input everyone. I think it would be a lot of fun to set up these matches. I think it would be best off to start off with just a couple matches (i.e 50 and 100 yard unlimited matches), and after more people join, we could expand and include more matches. I made up 1 target for the 100 yard match on publisher. I made it a bit challenging, but i think it will be fun... Here it is... The middle ring is a 10 by the way and if you touch the X ring with your shot, you score it as a 10-x )

That last one i made for 100 yard scoped class unlimited (if that makes any sence :D). I wouldn't mind running the match either, seing as how i am allready running a match over on RFC...

The 10 ring on that target measures about .6 so basically if you can keep the majority of your shots with in about .8 at 100 yards your doing good :)

When i say unlimited, basically what i mean is there is not limitations on anything such as gun weight, rest, ammunition price, or scope, ect. I would say that we should use a rest for this match. I think it would be a lot of fun. I know it is a bit late for this month, but we could start the month this month just to get a few shooters started on the match and just to let them know that it will be coming up in February as well. I think it will be a lot of fun. How do you guys like the target that i made?

You aren't shooting that target at 50 or 100 yards with open sights.
I find it takes a 8" black bull to shoot well at 100 yards, 3 or 4" at 50 yards. For that matter, anything less than 12X probably isn't going to work at 100.

Are you going to track both score and group size? Might be interesting stats.

The target i just made was meant for 100 yard scopes only. Is there any ideas on what i can do to the target to make it allright for people who are shooting less powered scopes (12 or less)?? Otherwise, I think it is allright...

And yes, peep and aperature sights would be allright for the iron sights :)

I will try making a different target for open sights :) (Probably a completely different target.

Would you guys like this to be a 100 yard thing only or do you think it would be fun to shoot it at 50 yards as well?
