What are all you using for playing at 100. o you like it, would you buy again. I have a Millett (I think) 8-32, a Sightmark 6-25 & 4-16 assorted 3-12s & 3-9s. I have 1 gun with no glass so not sure what is next.

I have 2, Vortex Viper HS 4-16x44s on my centerfire rifles. They hunt varmints from about 75-300 yards. I can see .22 holes @ 150+ yards with these scopes @ 16x. Were I shopping today, I'd consider Vortex's new Diamondback in 6-18x, but not sure if they're in Canada yet.

Saw a new 4-16 Diamondback at the lgs last week. Pretty nice with side focus to 30 yrds. Just picked up a Viper 6.5-20x50 for my Ultra Lux today.

just about anything! :)

I have a Mueller Eradicator on my Savage 93R17 BSEV, and a Leupold Vari-x III 6.5-20x40 on my BMAG. Both are very good.... Believe it or not, but the Eradicator is more user friendly then the Leupold, as the eye relief isnt as hard to get right.... I really like the Mueller's I have. Too bad there ain't any Canadian dealers!

I use a 3-9 for my 22 that I shoot silhouette and I wish I had just a little but more when I shoot the 100 yard targets. I think 4-16 would be great.
Although depending in what you are doing 3-9 does work (just can't see the holes you make easily)

I went overkill
I have a S3 10-50x Sightron
Atleast this scope will last and will work with any gun a buy. Plus Having that much power means I don't need a spotting scope, so saved money and less to carry around!
Just my 2 cents

A standard Bushnell .22 scope. So old I forget what magnification is has. You don't need a special scope for 100 yards.

First I got a Simmons 3-9x40 but 9x is way too weak for anything over 50y so I sold after 1 trip to the range. Now I have a Centerpoint 4-16x40 AO illuminated R/G mildot. 16x is OK for 100y but 20x+ would be much better.

I'm running a Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16x42 (mil dot) on my Savage Mark II BTVS.
At Low mag, I can still practice offhand at 50yds... at high mag, I can see .22 holes in my targets without a separate spotting scope (if needed).

That being said, I only really have this much scope on my .22 because I got a good deal on it when buying it used from another member.

I have a 6-18x40AO Bushnell trophy xlt on my heavy barrel, good for switching between 50 to 200, got it when my LGS was blowing them out for $140, ID look at vortex, can't beat the warranty, or price to quaility

Leupold VX-1, 2-7x40. It's enough. I'm not picking off fleas at that distance, just gophers.

What are you guys shooting at that some of you need 20x or more?

I like being able to see every hole at 100+ yards. I own an acreage so I can shoot 400+ yards if I wanted to. Furthist Ive shot and hit 24" target 10 out ten is 200yrds. However the OP is asking about 100.
Question then. Do you shoot offhand or only off bipod/bench? Weight IMO is huge if shooting offhand at 100yds. Youll want magnification but balance that with the weight of the scope.
Also what group sizes would you be happy with? IMO The more power you have, the easier it will be to get smaller groups.
Again just my 2¢
IMO anyone who says a 3-9x will be just as good as a higher mag scope is BSing you! Lets see their group sizes at 100yds compared to 20+ mag. However if you're shooting gopher size targets and dont mind seeing every detail, a less mag scope will work just fine.
Im looking for a 100yd and under gopher scope for my ultralight 10/22 build. I have a trs-25 that I love but I dont think will cut it over 50 yds. The leupold ultralight 3-9x I think will do but cost is holding me back. There are alot of 3-9x or more powerful scopes but they weight more than twice that of the leupold.

I put on a 3-9 Weaver I had in the drawer , I miss having the higher power. I can still see the holes but it is far more accurate with a 25 power scope. I will be getting something soon, but I can still play with it now.:) . Like the Sightron Big Sky 6.5-20x50 MOA but not sure if I want to drop that many $$- but get what you pay for. Thanks for your views Aj

fixed 20x Sightron SIII, I use its 150moa of adjustment to shoot at 300 plus yards for fun, in no way am I saying that this is a practical activity or set up.

I have a Nikon prostaff5 4.5-18. It is a mildot- wish it had Mil turrets-but I don't click much, I tend to use holdovers. I really like the scope and I'm happy with it. I find it comparable to anything but the highest end glass- and at the full 18x it is more than clear enough to see holes at 100yards. Not many at my range play with .22s at 100 yards but it is probably my favourite- it is really challenging to hit small targets at that range with .22s. A 9x scope just doesn't have the legs IMHO- for gophers it would be fine, but I want to shoot smaller and I prefer more mag.

Ok, I think I get it now.

I was having trouble figuring out why you would need much more than 7x or 9x - but if your mission is tight groups on paper, I would have to agree with "as much magnification as I could afford."

As much as I enjoy zen-ing out firing groups at the range, I just don't set my rifles up to be dedicated to that kind of activity, so I "miss the point" sometimes when I see some of the builds and crazy high powered scopes.
