Hey everyone.
Im looking to get a new range finder for shooting longer range, I'm trying to stay on a budget (as cheap as I can lol) I know the saying is buy once cry once, but looking for what people have had good luck with ranging 1000-1200 yards. It seems every range finder claims to be capable of it but very few are unless you spend big $$$. I'm wondering what everyone uses for this application as well as what brand/model to stay away from.

Thanks in advance.

My Nikon Black 4K gets pretty dodgy at that distance. I wouldn't recommend it for your use case.

Really? And mine has been nothing short of impressive! However I dint think they make it anymore. Buddy has a Leica 2800 we had them out side by side same conditions and one couldn't range anything the other couldnt.

Also very impressed with mine.
Has no problem all the way out to 3k, but needs a larger surface to pick up after that. (Car size object)
Still amazing!

Thanks for the input, does anyone have experience with the new vortex line? Price seems reasonable if they do what they say they do (mainly the 2000 and 3000 models)

I find it odd that Vortex's top of the line rangefinding binos are 5 years old at this point. One would think that technology has progressed enough to justify a new product.

use a map app on your phone , mark your shooting spot and measure distance VIA the app 1000-1100-1200 for your targets and place them there..

its not like you will be in a random situation needing to range 1200 yds.. it will always be an area you intend to shoot this distance.. at stationary targets. so a range finder is not really a needed piece of equipment if you can use other devices at your disposal to measure it.

on a laptop, google maps , sat view , right click to measure distance
