Hi Guys
I'll be competing at a 1000 yard shoot here next week.

I've never shot at this range before.
Will be running a remington sendero in 7mm SAUM.
I'm curious to know what my point of impact should be at a 100m target.

Around 30" high?

Good bullet, try JBM ballistics site for a free calculator.
My guess is about 25, a .308 needs about 30 and you'll do alot better than that.

I would say somewhere around 30-35 MOA is what you would need, however I am not well versed with the 7mm SAUM.
I have some targets for testing elevations from zero to 1000 yards when shooting from 25 yards with a .308 target rifle. It looks like a thermometer with the aiming point at the bottom of the sheet. From the aiming point to the 1000 yard line is 9.5 inches. Hope this helps.

Is your 100m distance really meters? I gave you the correction for 100 yards to 1000 yards. If your distance is 100m, then it will be slightly less than 26.5 that you need.

You will get sighters so you can dial yourself in.

From my shooting, I would say 22 to 25min from a 100yd zero. Those amax fly alot flatter then programs predict. At least in the few rifles I shoot this bullet in.

As a point of reference, I have been needing 17/18min to get to 940yds out of 7RM (3100fps).

That range is due in part to the scope adjustments. Scopes don't usually click exactly as expected. Close and repeatable but not always bang on to 1/4" or 1/4MOA.

I believe that that JBM calculation is a bit optimistic, and that you will need close to 30" at 100 to be on target at 1000. The 308 winchester will need a good bit more than 30" , regardless of what bullet one uses. Regards, Eagleye.

1000 Meter Shoot

Hi Riflechair, here is one point to keep in mind for this range the 1000 METER range is just a little longer about 1046 give or take a yard or two. This makes a bit of difference. At 100 meters I sight in as follows 7mm RM 168 sierras 30" high, 6.5x284 140 sierras 28" high, 308 155 palma 40" high, 243 WSSM 107 sierras 28" high. This gets you on the target, the fine tuning can be done on Fri or early Sat morning (before the shoot ). Take care Bill.

I don't think so. My .308 takes 29 moa from 100-1000 yards. 154 Lapua at 3000fps

Yes I overlooked those who are running 30" barrels in their 308's and then loading them to the nuts besides. With an exceptional bullet like that 154 Lapua, the drop would be less. But with most standard heavy barrels at 26-28", the 308 will still need 33" or so to reach the 1000, then add the extra yardage, such as at Burns lake, and you will need another 2" or so. Now we're up to 35" which is about what I was thinking. If you are shooting 1000 meters, that will be 1094 yards, and yet more elevation will be needed. Regards, Eagleye

The range here in Burns Lake was surveyed at 1048 yards with a 4% grade from the firing line to the targets.Elivation is about 2600 feet above sea level. Most calibers need to be 25" to 35" high at 100 yards to be on at 1048 yards. My factory 308 with a 22" barrel launching a 175gr. sierra needs about 40" at 100 yards.Take a look at the picture here there are a couple of guys sighting in at our 100 yard target.http://www.bcnorth.ca/snap2/photosh...nts&Town=Burns_Lake&Submit322=Search&index=70
