Like the title says I was thinking of bringing out my first rifle and trying it at 100m. How much rate of drop should I expect from a Ruger Airhawk which shoots about 2inch MOA at 44 meters and has downed an unreal amount of pigeons. Never tried it at 100 meters before though. It was rated at 455 feet per second when I bought it on the box and fires .177 pellets. I'd be using the wadcutter rounds from princess auto.

100m with flat faced wadcutters fired at under 500fps. I would say shoot it and see. You will need a very big piece of paper. Your sights may not adjust that far.

A wadcutter pellet will produce less desirable results than a round nose pellet. The information given by Paul_T is about right. In any case at 100 yards, an 8 grain wadcutter with a BC of 0.012 at an MV of 455 fps and zeroed at 45 yards will drop 137 inches (that's over 11 feet). Terminal velocity would be about 156 fps. In a 3 mph 90 degree crosswind, which is very low, the pellet will drift close to 27 inches. (This is derived from Hawke Chairgun.)

If you hit anything you are trying for, it would be by luck. Be aware that what the air rifle is "rated" at may not actually be what it delivers. The only way to know for sure is to chronograph the rifle. Muzzle velocity will also vary by pellet weight.

If you're planning on shooting 100M, put the scope on the lowest power. So you can actually see the fight, and have better ref to hold off. Probably going to have to put the target on the very bottom of the scope reticle.

I know me trying to hit a tree on my property at 60. Im holding off on the last mildot and Im sure it still low. Goes into over grown garden.
