maybe its just me but i think im never going to take my sr22 apart again seems like every time i do no matter how carfull i am i strip the threading on one screw on the top of my reciver

its a small fine thread machine screw threading into a thin walled aluminum reciever, you cant just crank them down. Ive mounted many different rails and sights to 10/22s over the years and never stripped a bolt hole.

The other thing you should consider is loctiting those torx bolts in there and leaving that piece of the upper housing (the 'rail') in place permanently. If you chamfer the receiver and trigger housing just a tad, you can take it down without having to remove the top portion. That will help keep your zero, too. It worked on mine.

Here's a bit of tutorial:

BTW, yours is a common problem. In my opinion, it's not that the receivers are too soft, it's that the torx bolts are too small. More thread engagement would solve the problem.
