1025 Yards- First time

icedragonmx;4451828I will need a spotter/shooting partner to go hunting for random boulders as I cannot get on target fast enough after a shot to spot hits on the granite rock. [/QUOTE said:
You should be able to see your own hits at 1000yds. Otherwise, try another style of front rest.

If not installed, a pod lock will really help with spotting your own shots.

That's half the fun - seeing the trace and the impact at distance.

With clear glass, you will have no issue spotting your impacts on rocks with a 16X scope. 308's kick up alot of dust. I feel 24X as ideal.

Seeing bullet holes in paper is near impossible no matter the spotting scope. mirage just causes way too much distortion at that distance. A wireless TV monitor system would be fun :)

Any type of wind indicator is a good thing. If the trees are too low vs your bullet path, then at least the arrival area.

No matter what, you are well on your way and fun is what this is all about.

What part of the province is that...looks beautiful....My part of the province was flat and Wheatie

This is in Ontario north of Kenora, Close enough to Manitoba for a long day out if needed but a weekend thing is better.:)

Mysticplayer- I do have a pod lock but I had my legs set in a crack/grove in the rock. Will try with the bi-pod set on flat ground with gloves under to allow a smooth movement when shooting. Need some time to learn the tricks! Just the start of some longer fun! 1Km is next, I think I might be able to get that distance at this location:cool:
