Just wanted to get some feedback about a Goose load I adapted from an Alliant load and a Reloading Specialties one.
Both original loads called for 45-47gr of Aliant Steel powder under 1 1/2oz of #BB Steel shot. What I am using is as follows:
10ga Remington Hull (Plastic Base)
Win 209 primer
45gr Aliant Steel
Sam 1 10ga Wad
1x 20ga 1/8" cork under shot
1x 12ga 1/8" felt under shot
1.5 oz #BB steel shot
1 mylar overshot card
eight fold crimp
So what do you guys think? The two undershot spacers are there because the Sam 1 is good for very large payloads so there is a lot of room without them. The cork 20ga fits very well in the tapered bottom of the wad and the felt spacer above it settles in nicely too. The overshot card for the perfect crimp.
The original loads were almost 1600fps but I think I'll get quite a bit less with the extra spacers. Either way as a 10ga load I think it will tenderize my shoulder nicely.
