10mm ammo pros and cons

Both ammunition are harder to come by then other handgun alternatives.

I find I can get 10MM easier then 41Mag in the GTA.

Pricing wise, on a small box, I typically see 50 cents a round for 10MM and almost a buck a round for 41 Mag

Is it more expensive than the 40?

90% of the power of a 44 magnum with 75% of the recoil (from what I shot)

Win Win!

10mm/ .40 cal bullets are the same. So if you shoot .40 the pills are the same cost.
Brass is a little more expensive.
Round uses large Pistol Primers which is inconvenient when everything else I reload for on my 550 is SPP or SRP.

My suggestion is to reload for it, and get a separate primer setup for your press so the swap takes 5 minutes instead of 1/2 an hour.

If you aren't handloading don't bother with 10mm as you are just a lot paying more to shoot ammo that is only slighty hotter than typical .40 loads. There is no approved ammunition available in Canada that performs as the cartridge should.

Pro: I own a 10mm
Con: expensive to shoot, sometimes hard to find ammo

I guess you have to remember that you are only shooting at paper or steel targets.

Here's the thing... 10mm Auto is awesome!

Is it more expensive? - YES~ A LOT MORE

I personally would not even consider a 10mm unless I reloaded for it.

The other thing to consider is that store bought -cheap ($30/box)- generic 10mm ammo is no different than .40S&W in terms of POWAH!

Now, reloaded ammo (or defensive 10mm Auto ammo - which I have yet to see in a Canadian retail store) is awesome in terms of power and dwarfs the .40S&W.

So... my advice is to start reloading! :)

It's actually very easy for pistol cartridges and fun... the money you end up saving is incredible especially when you are talking about the more expensive rounds (10mm, 44magnum, etc.)

Recap:
Glock20 is the best Glock... 10mm Auto *can* be super powerful. I wouldn't get one unless I reloaded for it.

~Cheers

Note: If money is no object then by all means, by your retail 10mm by the thousands! Get the hot retail stuff too ;) Wish I could.
