10mm Glock misfires

I am reloading for a friends 10mm Glock (target loads) we get the occassional misfire. I reload 4 other handgun calibers and don't get any misfires. One thing I have noted is that the impression left in the primer with this gun is not typical. They are slightly off center and allmost appear double tapped??
Do Glocks have a different shaped firing pin than the rest of the world?

Hi there.. you can always tell a Glock fired case because they do have that typical Glock firing pin shape... its more of a oblong bar shape... very obvious when compared to a case fired by a 1911 pistol. Wish i had a pic...

About your misfires.. perhaps that Glock needs a tune up with a stronger spring kit. What type of primers are you using for your loads? I have found that CCI primers sometimes are too hard for my Springfield XD9 to fire. I try to exclusively use federal primers and if i cant get these i use winchester primers. They tend to be softer than CCI primers. Some of my buddies say that for revolvers they can only use federal primers. All others are too hard..

Yes, Glock strikers look very different from other firing pins. Should look like a little "i" without the dot. How do the fired primers look different from the misfired ones? Is primer or powder contamination a possibility? Pull the rounds, and see if the primer ignited at all. Did you try to refeed them and give them a second go, they might have gone if you did.
I've had misfires in rifle ammunition, the primer was either contaminated or weakly hit, as a little tiny bit of powder right by the flashhole had turned green.

Thanks guys, that sounds like the firing pin shape is normal then.
I have tried recycling the rounds and they do go off the second time. Some primers are CCI most so far have been Winchester. I am using a Lee Pro 1000 and instructions say not to use Federal primers, is this a valid concern?

Its not uncommon to experience that when the owner changes the striker spring/trigger spring/connector. Sure they get a decreased trigger pull but often they experience light strikes if using the wrong combination of striker spring, trigger spring. U may wanna ask him he did a little tinkering

Are you getting light strikes on the primers? If so, something may be wrong with the gun. If not, something is wrong with the primers. This will narrow things down a lot for diagnosis.

I agree with daBear. Some spring kits and such are not recommended for CCW guns because they may not go bang when you need them to. I reload a lot of 10mm, and plenty for a Glock 20. The only misfires I had were due to dirty primer pockets with old brass. Even then it was only 4-5 out of 1000.

Try eliminating primer fault, it should be easy. CCI primers are white and Win are yellow, right? So you can sort ammo and try.
In general, Fed primers are not only soft, they are hotter than Win or CCI. Win primers are still considered to be acceptably soft. CCI primers seem to be the least desirable with competitive crowd who reload due to the fact they are considered to be hard.
I never had issues with Win primers but still prefer Fed ones
