10mm Long Slide idea

not on Crack!

Longslides are a beautiful thing.
Earlier this year I put a Lone Wolf longslide top end on my G17. Put a LWD G34 lands & grooves barrel in it. Mine has the threaded end so I can put their compensator on the end or a knurled nut to cover up the threads. Fabulous.
You can do the same with a G22 and put the LWD G35 slide and barrel on the top end for a truly nice long slide.
Think the nice people at LWD are working on a longslide for the G21.

Longslides are ugly...

[Geez, Lugger & I finally agree on something....  ]........ :p

And in some cases making a longslide out of a 1911 is one sad way to ruin a perfectly beautiful, collectible 1911...:( :( :(

Interestingly enough, though.... the above abomination 'shoots'....

The problem with the long slides on the market today is that they're not nearly long enough. Somebody needs to step up and reintroduce the 7" longslide (minus AMT's hit-and-miss QC).

Didn't you once say that was a Jim Clark job? That's about as far from a "bubba" job as possible.

And I do have to laugh at the guy with the Beretta in his avatar calling a 1911 longslide "ugly."

No, I have no idea who actually did the "custom" longslide conversion on the 1914 vintage Colt commercial 1911 that is pictured.... It was probably done ~ 25 or more years ago, given the site rib that was used. I do know enough about 1911's and work done on them to say that the job was nicely done, though. Finish has been worn somewhat in the time since conversion as no doubt it was done up as a 'shooter' and it has been shot. And I have to attest I have put a box of hardball thru it since I've owned it and from 25 yards still produces nice groups.

But Lugger has it right.... I think they are 'fugly', too..... ;) :D

I was under the impression that the stipling on the frame was one of his trademarks, as seen on this one:

I agree the stipling on mine is similar. However, if Clark had done the custom on the one I have I would expect to see his signature on it as well. I bettin' mine was not done by him..... ;)

not anymore, us state department screwed us on that.
besides, thats an extra 300 on top of it, plus you still need it all put together

Uugghh.........really? I thought Questar could do anything. I'm not familiar with all the political BS, not that specifically anyway. That sucks. I thought it might be a cheap way to pick up nice product.
