Working on hunting loads for a .38-40 Win 92. The old girl doesn't like lead bullets for some reason, but is pretty good with jacketed ones. The problem - and I should have seen this coming - is that in a tubular magazine, uncrimped bullets get pushed into the case by the recoil. I need a cannelure so I can put a decent crimp on them. I've not used .40 before and have been going through the various component websites but they are fuzzy when it comes to detail. Anybody know who makes .400" 180 gr JHPs or JSPs with a cannelure? Thanks.

I used a CH cannelure tool for the 10 mm bullets in my 38-40. Worked really slick. No more telescoping rounds.
Give CH a call and get one. Really simple to use, adjustable depth for different seating lengths.
Just use light pressure so you don't cut a groove too deep.
