Here's what I use:

.308 muzzle devices are pretty much standard thread (5/8x24), so you should be able to find thread protectors with that same thread.

.223 is generally different, I believe (1/2x28).

Funny, an eBay search for ".308 muzzle thread protector" turned up nothing for .308, but a huge number of .223 providers. Must be popular in the US to have to purchase protectors after removing the "baby killing flash hider" from the assault weapons
