I have had many people tell me not to mount my Elite 3200 10X40 on a .22. What are the reasons for not doing this? I have a cheap 3X-9X on there now and it sucks farts out of dead seagulls. Perhaps I haven't adjusted it properly but I could hardly make out a target at 25 yrds!

Do it if you want to, but you'll probably be limiting the "plinking" ability. If you want to get the most out of that combo, you should also be looking at a heavy barrel.

Get a red dot! :D

if you buy a cheap scope that is not .22 rated.. ie: has the Objective adjusted to rimfire ranges it is going to suck azz o matter what you do.

buy a rimfire rated scope.... 3-9x33 or get one with an adjustable objective.... your 10x is a great scope but again you run into the problem of where it is focused for, most centerfire scopes are focused for 150 yds.

I certainly am not arguing against putting the scope on the 22. The only thing that would concern me if I owned the gun is the reduced close range field of view with the big scope. Of course a narrow field of view may slow your target acquisition down. If you shoot paper with it that issue would never bother you.
