Doing some serious contemplation of a lighter hunting rifle as I'm getting older..... At least that is the excuse I'm using with my understanding wife to justify another rifle purchase ;)

Waffling with the Kimber accuracy lottery and the blind magazine OR for half price do a 11/111 Lightweight Savage and ditch that accu-trigger abortion with either a Basix or Timney trigger? Any thoughts on the better aftermarket triggers for this model?

The Savages reciever is fugly as hell for me but my Dad's 1960's 110 ought six is one hell of tack driver and the price of the 11/111 is certainly a draw for me, leave some slush for nice optics and finishing the landscape projects this spring! Thinking 7-08 as I reload and just to be a little different.

Am I thinking false economy with these thoughts? As I said, the Savage I'm comparing to is 1966-67 vintage - I have to go to the LGS to see what current production looks like. I don't want to start a war in the gun safe trying to introduce a Savage with a mix of Mausers,Weatherbys, Rugers and CZs.....

If you have Rugers in the safe and like them, why not pick up a compact in 7mm-08 and still end up with a sub 7 pound scoped rifle? Much lighter than the Savage and a quality rifle without the Kimber price tag.....

My Bad... Should have stated 11/111 Lightweight model. 5.5lbs with a longer tube than the Ruger that comes in at 6lbs. The 77 is certainly in the mix, was kinda curious on the Savage after I looked at the stats.

I have a savage 11/111 in 300 mag with a timney trigger and love it I change the bolt handle on it with a tactical one awesome rifle

This is good to hear! Enjoy....
