I build this AR few months ago, really wanted to try a short barrel with mid length gas system. So i decided to use Faxon 11" barrel and Superlative adjustable gas block, just in case :) . At the end it worked out very good, i did manage to get out to the range with it few times. It worked flawlessly, felt very smooth and well balanced. I didnt have any failures with different types of ammo used. As for accuracy, i didnt get a chance to shoot it at 100m, but at 50 it punched one rugged hole most groups.. im very happy with it so far and very surprised how little dwell time is needed for (so far) flawless operation..
Does anyone else try a similar set up? How did it work out in the long run? Anything i should be aware of?

Build list:
AERO M4E1 lower
Bootleg Lightweight Upper
Faxon Gunner 11.5" barrel (mid length)
Superlative adjustable gas block
Brigand Atlas 9" handguard
Nickel boron F/A BCG.
Magpul m93 stock
Ergo pistol grip
Battlelink ambi bolt release.
Magpul AFG
DD parts kit/trigger
Magpul PRO 45 offset BUIS
Olight Baldr Pro green laser/light combo
Dlask arms linear compensator
Vortex strike eagle 1-8x
Aero precision scope moumt

Last picture is the initial set up with Inforce WML light, but then i changed it to light/laser combo which needed to be on the bottom.

Do you mind me asking a ballpark figure of what the total cost was and how much you paid for assembly or did you assemble yourself? I ask because I am thinking of a similar build. Hard to find a complete build with an 11.5 barrel though. Thanks.

I think it was around 2k for the rifle or 2.6k with optic.. and thats from what i remember. I ordered the lower from US, so had to wait a long time for import, so the whole build took too long, its hard to tell the exact numbers.. :) i Put it together my self, its very easy, you should try it.. there is plenty of info on youtube.

Great looking rig! If you don’t mind me asking how wide is the stock I have had my eye on one for a while but I have not scene one up close and I’m rather particular about finish.

Had the exact same barrel and gas block with a surefire brake + warden on lmt receivers. T'was a dream rifle, take the warden off for 3gun and leave it on for plinking. Eventually sold it to fund other projects but find myself missing it from time to time.

The stock is 2 inches at the widest point. It is very solid, strong lock up, very well finished product.. if you like the look, try it out, you wont be dissapointed.

Love that set up too, might do it in the future. That and a nice trigger.

Any you have in mind? I've tried many and can provide feedback.

Well? I was also thinking of an 11.5 build. I already have a stripped aero lower and upper. I really like the op’s finished product but am still torn between building one with decent quality and it costing $2000ish or just buying a 11.6 diemaco.

Well, i wanted a nice crisp single stage, with fast/short reset, and around 3-4 lbs pull, and it would be great if i didnt have to pay more than $200 for it :)

You could go either way, sell the parts you have and buy Diemaco, and have a good, reliable but ordinary looking AR.
Or pick and choose the parts you want according to your style/need and come up with something unique.. your call. :)

Not sure about triggers in your price point but I can guarantee if you went with an elftmann or hyperfire it would be exactly what you're looking for. Most have some adjustability. I personally love the hyperfire because the reset is extremely short and the lighter the spring you put in it the stronger the hammer swings. I know the CMC triggers are on the cheaper side (two on the EE right now, one flat one curved) and get great reviews.

You make a good point about making it unique. Although I’m tempted to copy a lot of the op’s because it is working well for him. I know it’s a lot of personal preference but is there anything else anyone would suggest trying different than what he did?

Cmc 3 lbs s/s flat trigger in mine. Love it, very crisp and fast highly recommend!! Albeit pricey worth every cent.

Rise super sport. 3.5lb single stage, lots of good reviews, under $200. I’ve got a pair sitting at the post office, hoping they are as good as people claim.

I just thought of something else i want to do to it :) i will get a folding stock adapter, like the LawTactical gen3.. the gun is fairly light it might be ok with a bit of extra weight.
