Recently purchased a used 11-87 Premier. The gun is a right handed model but as I discovered today when I picked it up from the PO, the safety is backwards (push to the left=safety on). I took the trigger group out and attempted to reverse it to no avail as I suspected. So, I believe this means that the gun has a left handed trigger group in it. Question is, is there an ambidextrous safety out there I could buy that would fix this issue or do I need a whole new trigger group. I have read about people drilling holes somewhere in there to reverse the stock ones, but I am scarred sh**less to do this myself. Any help would be appreciated.

You should be able to get a right hand safety button and just change it out. I converted my RH 870 to a left hand safety by simply changing the button.

I believe the safety button is the same for both hands on the 11-87, its where the detent slot is drilled that makes it hand specific.

Dosen't seem cost effective. Cheaper to have a different button than a hole trigger assembly. the grooves on my lh button is a mirror image of the rh safety button.

I have a left handed conversion safety for my rt hand 1100 but I am willing to bet your gun has had a new hole drilled for the spring and detent ball on the left side of trigger group. Much more common this way. All you would need to do is push out the pin move the spring and ball to rt side hole and reinsert pin. It is REAL easy to lose the detent ball

Definitely only one hole and it was drilled on the L side. Wish there had of been a second hole drilled, would of saved me buying a new trigger group. Could of attempted myself I suppose but don't have the tools or know how.
