Hi guys .. new to the tactical shotgun world. Have a chance to buy my buddie's 11/87 police. I don't like the fact that I can't pack it around where ever I want, so I thought that maybe I could find a cool tactical style muzzle brake (nothing too long) that I could have permanently attached to have it re-verified as non-restricted. Am I dreaming? Any help would be appreciated.

muzzle brakes (permanently affixed or not) don't count for barrel length in canada (unlike the US) although they do count towards overall firearm length. so the only way you can make it non restricted is to put in another barrel longer than 18.5 inches

Thanks JohnC ... I had a discussion with a couple guys that thought it might be possible. Should have known that was just too easy to be true. Can't believe I am gonna end up with a range gun over half an inch. Brutal.

Actually, anyone that has an 11/87 and has put a longer barrel on it can PM me and give me the scoop on what i need to do to get this done (where to purchase barrel, related costs, etc.) .. that would be very helpful.
