Hi all I have a double rifle with a 11mm dovetail rail. I'm looking for a set of rings that will firmly hold a scope. I prefer something quick detach as I wish to still use the iron sights. I'm lost on this topic as I can't seem to find anything that will stand up to a 4570. Any ideas?

I have a Baikal SxS double in .45-70, and have had perfect results using an inexpensive one-piece airgun mount. These are available in various heights and lengths, usually for only about $20, and they clamp very effecively to the 11mm rails on the Baikal guns. Their full-length slamping surfaces grip very tightly, and recoil is no problem. Certainly not pretty, but then neither is the gun.:)

I also find that the regulation of the barrels is not affected by the mount. Most "real" double rifles, i.e. real expensive, are regulated with iron sights, and adding any type of scope mount messes up the regulation...not so with the Baikal and the lightweight airgun mount.

I use the scope for load development and testing, then remove and replace it with a NECG peep sight designed for the Ruger rifles. It mounts onto the rail, even has a recoil stop that fits nicely into the groove, and is perfect for hunting.
