Is there a difference in rings made for 11mm dovetail vs. 3/8 dovetale. I've seen some rings listed for both, are they just selling me 3/8 rings that fit the 11mm close enough?

If there are 11mm rings which do you recommend?

Thanks

Nic

There is a difference. Leupold for example makes rimfire rings in 11mm, 13mm and 3/8 dovetail. Some manufacturers make rimfire rings with enough adjustment at the base to accomodate most rails but it is hit or miss. It is best to bring the gun into the store and dry fit the rings (if your store will accomodate you) to see if they will fit. Most 3/8 rings will fit the majority of rimfire (17 hmr or 22 ) rifles and the 11mm and 13mm rings are required for some air rifles. Phil.

When I was looking for rings to fit my CZ 452 American, which has 3/8 dovetail, I was told in Rimfirecentral that the way CZ cut the dovetail doesn't exactly correspond to typical tip off rings made in America. The angles apparently differ. Anyway, I used Leupold rings and they fit fine and have held zero after much use.

From the Warne website:

Warne 7.3/22 Rings
The strongest small bore scope rings available. Designed to fit a very wide selection of rifles and fit both 3/8” and 11mm dovetails. This is made possible by using a solid steel asymmetrical reversible clamp that can be flipped 180° and used on wider or narrower dovetails for best fit

So, nope it's not a "close enough" fit for both. One side of the clamp for 11mm and the other for 3/8". I have a set on my Walther with 11mm receiver grove. Works great.

Leupold would no doubt be very good as well.
