Just installed a 12" long rubber stock on my Grizzly (camp/backpack shotty) and I really like the feel VERY grippy!!!

I already have a metal forend grip installed if I did not I would have installed the excellent grippy Hogue forend as well.

Only thing is I need to remove the stock again and take out the metal spacer that goes inside the receiver grip/screw area.

All in all the Hogue upgrade makes a great mod.

Thanks guys yeah already whacked my nose with the other chopped down stock!!

It is about 33" OAL the stock is shorter than a regular one really shoulders nicer now.

I've got a short Hogue on my 870, I'd actually prefer about a 13-13.25" LOP shouldering-wise, but with my short reach and short LE style forend I figure I don't need to be any further away from the pump throw than I am now.

I'm considering getting a Mesa Urbino stock, IMO a pistol grip makes more sense than conventional stock once you get below a certain length thanks to thumb/hand interference issues, I've never hit myself with my thumb but I still don't like my hand sitting right in front of my face as it does with the short Hogue.

I found a pistol grip actually transfers more of the recoil into my hand just sold a pistol grip side folder.

Hold the shotgun squared up (latest tactical approved method) and thumb is not an issue with the short stocks. Blade away (holding it like a rifle with left shoulder forward/right shoulder rearward) and you will have an issue with your thumb. YMMV

My arms are so short that I find even the 12" Hogue uncomfortably long when squared up.

Also even if that weren't the case I don't think I could get used to the squared up stance, and I don't wear body armor, which seems to be most of the reasoning behind squaring up in the first place.
