I am thinking about doing a 12.5 inch barrel 10/22 build. I am a beginner at this.

Please post photos of your similar builds and suggestions.

I have a 12.5 inch bull barrel to start with. Looking for good suggestions for stocks etc. I would use it for range or bush target shooting and maybe some small game hunting.

Thanks!

There’s a sticky on the top of this sub forum full of them, a lot of very nice builds. That’s thread has caused more than a few 10/22 makeovers for me

I have one which I'm sure has been posted in the sticky cited above, in more than one configuration over the years. I have used both Hogue and Magpul stocks. It's a great grouse gun, short enough to pack and maneuver easily and very accurate for short range.

I just checked out many many pages of the pinned 10/22 thread. Thinking of going with the Hogue stock with the 12.5" bull barrel.

Perhaps a few more options to consider for a short barrel set up?

I've done a couple dozen SBR builds with the kids... they are fun to do and fun to shoot.

Sub moa easy ! Barrel length effects velocity not accuracy in fact a shorter barrel is stiffer and less prone to harmonics so can actually be more accurate albeit at lower velocities which just means at long ranges a couple more clicks on the elevation. For a 22lr the 12.5 is probably the sweet spot for accuracy velocity and portability.

I've done a number of 12.5" barrel builds and 1 8" build. They are noisy more so with a muzzle break. I have one 12.5 I still use it has a sporter weight barrel, so it's compact and light.

I currently have 1 1022 with a 16.5 carbon fiber barrel, 1 1022 with a Kidd 16.5 lite weight barrel and a 1022 Target with 16.3 aluminum tensioned barrel. Much prefer the balance and weight of these barrels.

Good Luck with your build
