12.6 barrels

Assuming I have 12.6 status, is it possible to import a replacement barrel for a 12.6 handgun? I have all the forms to start the process but I suspect the short barrel is a no go.

I swapped a 5" ported barrel into my Glock 26 BEFORE I had it transferred into my name. It only took 7 months for the RCMP/CFO to make up their minds that this was an OK thing to do.

Then they demanded that I leave the shorty barrel with them. At that point, I just wanted my Glock back, so I did not argue.

IIRC, you must have a business import the barrel for you AND install it on your handgun. Since a 12.6 barrel is a prohibited device, only a business is allowed to posess it. However, as soon as the barrel is installed, it is part of the 12.6 hangun and no longer a prohibited device.

ETA: I'm not a lawyer, but that's what I remember.

PLEASE DON'T QUOTE ME ON THIS..........

Part of the prohib status law was that you couldn't bring in parts for a prohibited firearm. Reason; as they break, they become useless..... One less firearm out there.

I have a 2" S&W model 19 that I would like to put a 3" barrel on. I found some 3" 38 special barrel in the US for cheap and the wheels started turning.

We cannot import a barrel but we can make one and fit it. We also cannot make one and send it to you - we have to fit it. We also can't send the original back because as kirill said, the barrel on its own is a prohibited device. Go figure!
