Dad was late by 40 days in his licence renewal in 2012. This is in BC. Had 2 licence renewals since then and did not realize they took his 12(6) away in the 2012 renewal. This years renewal they will not renew until he does something about his prohibited firearms. They missed it twice. So he has been in illegal possession since 2012. Nice.

Head cfo says no getting it back, that’s the legislation. Very very nice fella we talked to though. 5 options available. Only option we want to entertain is making them both restricted.

Does any of our fine community know where to source 105mm or longer barrels for the following firearms;

Beretta, 950B, .22 short blued
Smith & Wesson, 29 44 mag, chrome

Gunsmith is looking but telling us .22 may not be doable. Quick google search, and they are in the USA. Wish we had more options for gunsmiths.

Cfo says he has multiple beretta and s&w on record that were changed.

Cheers

A relative of mine was in similar situation, had a Colt Detective Special he wanted to keep. He took it to Barry at Bits of Pieces in Delta and he made a new barrel for it so it now resembles a Colt Police Positive.

I had a look at it and work looked very good. The same fellow also converted a few Lugers at my range here in MB from prohib to restricted. They look fine and all work well as far as I know.

I know a good gunsmith in Manitoba who would rebarrel the 950B.
You'd just need to ship him the barrel (not the gun), he'd lengthen the barrel and ship it back to you.
Then all you do is submit pictures to the CFO and they change the classification status.
PM me for his contact info if intersted.

No - the CFO will not change classification unless a certified verifier has seen it and signed - approved the change.
If the gunsmith is a verifier - example -like Dlask - then it is easier.

That's not the case - they did a number of prohibited to restricted reclassifications for me before I got my verifier cert.

Sorry can't help pointing to a gunsmith so do take Colin L's suggestion. And as far as the 44 - a new barrel can be made easily enough - up to you if you want to go to the expense.

Others have suggested Bits of Pieces. He does good work but getting him to do it is like pulling teeth - he is too busy.
