12 ga ammo,

Can anyone tell me what this 12 ga cartridge is for, found a bag of them in a box of various ammo he had in his gun room. They are light, and obviously not loaded with anything shot wise as far as I can tell.

But don't know what they are or what they are for.

Just a guess...Could have been a homemade blank for dog training purposes. To get them acclimatized to the shotgun / noise levels upon retrieving.

It's in a box of various shells and other sundries from when my father was in ERT in the late 80s. We were cleaning out his house and found this box in the basement with a bunch of left over 12ga. Some 38spl and some leftover 9mm ball.

I will shoot one i guess next time I get out .
