I have a norinco 1887 lever action that never extracted right. I thought it was a bore issue when it might have been an extractor issue. Ground the snot out of the chamber thinking it was to tight . Now when it fires the hull swells to match the ground chamber still wont extract. The extracters seem lazy but obviously we overground, can it be fitted with chamber bushings also strenthed ectractors? I know its a cheap gun but iam found of the POS does anybody have any suggestions or a good gunsmith to recommend?

Congratulations, you ruined your gun. "Grinding the snot" out of anything is never the solution, and unsurprisingly it didn't work at all. Polishing the chamber may have been appropriate, but in all likelyhood, it was the extractor right from the start. The other problem may be your ammunition. Aluminum headed shells (such as the super cheap Winchesters) have a tendency to stick in some firearms, whereas brass headed shells often don't.

You just got a lecture or do you have a fix?

There is no fix. You ruined the chamber and that’s unsalvageable.

You can:

Remove, shorten and refit the barrel. You’ll also have either relocate the magazine stud, or shorten the magazine tube. This all assumes you have a lathe and mill and can take some care in your work. That, or spend a small fortune paying someone else to do it. And the barrel still needs to end up over 18.5” to remain NR. If it’s a short barreled gun (20” or less), you ‘re out of luck.

Buy a new barrel and have it fitted. Easier than the above, but still more money than the gun is worth.

Buy a new gun. The only really viable option that makes any financial sense. Use what’s left of the old one for spare parts.

Please explain, is this something I can get lathed & pressed in & do you know where a new barrel can be found?

Ok ! Here's the skinny
This a complete receiver with the barrel mounted ( by the factory ) and magazine tube ( follower and spring) the trigger and spring thats it that's all .
The barrel looks to be never fired ( mirror finish ) or it was very well cleaned . I got it from the original importers .

I have sent you numerous messages & Iam interested in more info ball is in your court??????

The problem was probably , the left extractor...just need to be bent back in place , and or replaced. Most will need it, I had to bend and re-temper mine , works great with slugs...that all I shot out of it.
Let me know if your going to sell yours for parts, it will need a new barrel...as long as you have ground down anything else!
Cheers
Brian
