I'm researching the process of reaming and tapping a couple 12 ga barrels for screw in chokes. Does anyone have a go to brand to buy, also can they be bought in Canada or will I have to get the shipped from the US. Any tips would also be appreciated

Different makes of choke tubes may require the barrel to be made to certain specifications. I know from experience that some factory barrels can not be altered to accept factory tubes...

So accurately measure the bore diameter and the corresponding barrel diameter and how concentric they are and compare that to the specs the reamer/tap/tube manufacturer provides.

It is way cheaper to simply access a smith who has the tooling.

I once contacted Epps about tapping a barrel for screw-in chokes. Their only concern was the thickness of barrel which makes sense since there must be sufficient metal remaining to hold the choke securely. It would make sense to take that measurement and ask them for a quote ... then comparing that cost to the cost of tooling.

Mansen reamers has the tooling you need, and I echo everything Guntech says.

x3 on those comments.

FWIW, if you have a hard copy of the Brownell's Catalog, even and older one, you can glean a lot of the information that you are looking for, from the sizes that they provide in the descriptions for the various choke tube reamer and tap sets they sell.
Dunno if their website is as easy to pick through. Hardly use the site.
