Why dont you see any 12 gauge handguns? Maybe I've had too much time to think about stupid $h!t, but why not? The Taurus Judge is bad a$$ but its only a .410 and we've all seen (and drooled over, well I have) the Serbu super shorty shotgun. So why not? If there were a 12 gauge derringer available, I would totally buy one! Or what about a .700NE/12gauge derringer? Kind of like a 45colt/.410 for big boys?

There was a double-barrel shot pistol in the hilarious intro clip to the movie "Panic Mechanic"

Saw a video of a Derringer chambered in 45/70 (top barrel) and 45 Long Colt (or .410) for the bottom barrel. Seemed to hurt like an SOB when he shot the 45/70 .. go figure.

Having had the dubious pleasure of shooting a 3 inch magnum slug from a guy's Mossberg pistol grip shotgun and living with a sore hand for the week following you can have it.

My sissy hands can barely barely handle shooting a Snake Slayer with .410. Don't even want to know how many tears I would shed shooting a 12 gauge handgun lol

I used to have a great uncle, years ago, in the southern states that had a single barreled 20g and double barreled 16g, or it could have been the other way around. I was 12 at the time and they were the coolest things I'd every seen at the time. Sadly we've lost contact with that side of the family yrs ago cause it be great to try them out, once.

The pressures with BP vs a 12Ga smokeless are miles and miles apart. The BP gun would actually be fun. A true handgun with a 12Ga slug? Not for me even on a double dog dare.

Yes, I know, this was my point. Slugs knock the he11 out of me with my 870. 20" barrel, full wood furniture, 2 3/4" shells, recoil pad...the OP wants something that takes the same load in a derringer!! Nutz!! 12 ga can go up to 3 1/2" Magnums to boot...extra nutz!
I thought if its a BOOM the OP is after, large caliber smooth bore pistol will fit the bill...and you can hang on to it. Your dentist will thank you.

They used one in Demolition man. Came across this for an image...apparently it's actually a Japanese flare gun(likely chambered in 12ga).

Here is a video from one of our very own members Starpuss.

Rossi Riot Gun.

Probably hard as hell to find one but they are around in Canada.

With thompson you can buy pistol stock and forend and then get a 12g barrel cut down to pistol length.

Wouldnt that make it prohib? And I never said it was a good idea, just thought a hand cannon thats cheap to feed would be nice! Oh, and I was thinking of 2 3/4", not 3 1/2, THAT would be crazy! :)

A Very pistol is 12 ga. However, modifying one to fire shotshells would lead to having bits of orange flaregun picked out of your torso and face, in the ER.

In something this size, the Ruger Alaskan is probably bad enough:
