Anyone know where to buy 12 Gauge SnapCaps in Canada? I found some in the states but would rather order from Canada.

!

Go for the A-ZOOM!

Don't spend a cent on Tradition and Pachmayr... I had more than a dozen with broken base/rims...

Ok at the risk of sounding like a complete dumb a** what are snapcaps ?
A dummy, inert cartridge usually with a "primer" that will cushion the fall of a firing pin.
It allows for dry fire practice with minimal or no damage to the firing pin etc caused by snapping the trigger(s) with nothing under the pin to stop the firing pins travel.
I have found the plastic units a waste of money, since the rims break and sheer off.
As others have mentioned herein, stay with the all metal units even though they are a little more expensive.

No discussion of snapcaps would be complete without mentioning that they SHOULD NOT be left in your shotgun during long term storage. They have been shown to trap humidity between the snap caps and the chamber walls, causing rusting and pitting, if left in guns for extended periods of time.

Needless to say, these reports weren't from any scientific study or anything. It could easily be that those guns were stored in humid environments where they would've rusted anyway. But, the fact that the rust was only seen around the area in contact with the snap caps, would make me suggest that you err on the side of caution and don't leave them in the gun for more than a few months at a time.

I've always avoided storing guns cocked (don't like the springs to develop "memory"), so snap caps are a good solution for short term storage. The extension to this is that you should try and learn the steps required to close your action without leaving it cocked. In some guns, it's a process that you'd only want to do once in a while (like when putting the gun away for several months or more). For others, it's not possible and you have to choose between snap caps or dry firing.

FWIW. I loaded some shells without powder or primers, but used a hot glue gun to fill the primer pocket.

They work perfectly.
