12 Guage "BB"???

My father is the Executor of a will of a friend who recently passed. I got to pick out some things and I grabbed the rest of this Gentleman's shot gun ammo. It's old....really old....maybe even before I was born old...(26). Some of the 12 Gauge loads are labeled "BB" for the shot size.

what size is "BB" and what would be the closest to current labeling for bird shot?

BB shot is larger than #2. After the numbered shot sizes, the letters start, as pellets become progressively larger. BBs were often used for geese. You will also see AAA, which is a small buckshot, then SG, SSG, etc. BB shot in a shotgun is lead, BB shot for an airgun is steel. Diameters are similar, but not identical.

To be specific, BB=.180" diameter, #2 shot=.150" diameter.

BB is still fairly popular for geese, even in steel. I don't have any trouble finding it on shelves.
