12 inch shotgun barrels

They'll be 12.5".

Dlask will have them, or at the very least, he can give you an idea of when another batch is going to be made.

Give him a call.

The EE is also your friend if you're not too particular about whether you want a Dominion Arms take-off barrel, or a secondhand Dlask barrel.

Thanks I'm looking for anything which will work.

If you're looking for "shorter then 18".... here,s an exerpt from an old PM I sent out to someone else:

You'll probably have more luck finding "short" barrels in these commonly available sizes:

6.5" (Dlask. Requires modded mag tube)
8.5" (Dlask. Requires modded mag tube)
12.5" (Dlask and Dominion Arms Grizzly's have these)
14" (the HP9(-1?) uses these, also there are some Remington Police barrels, if someone is willing to sell)
15" (Dominion arms Grizzly Mags have these)

Any of these may require a little fitting, depending on which combination of barrel and receiver you end up with. Dlask barrels are heavy profile, and may require some shaving of the forend grip.

Posting a WTB in the EE might land you an OK deal.

Good luck

EDIT: 16" inch barrels are a little touchy, if you find one for sale in your travels. Use the search to find out more on those.

i do not consider the Grizzly barrels 'compatible' with an 870.
there is a slight difference in barrel indexing between the 870 and the Grizzly. if you install a Grizzly barrel on an 870, the front sight will be cockeyed and the barrel/magazine tube will look 'twisted'. safe to shoot? i guess - the bolt will still lock into the shank of the barrel. but its not going to be accurate.

there were many people buying Grizzlies just for the short barrel, then selling the barrell-less gun on the EE. i tried a Grizzly barrel on both my Wingmasters and Express and i do not consider the result acceptable at all. i really dont understand how people can actually use an 870 with a Grizzly barrel on it cockeyed.

that said, if you are looking for a 12.5" barrel then rather than spending $300 on a Dlask i recommend you spend $300 on a Grizzly with a 12.5" barrel. its at least as good as an 870 Express (imo better), so its a much better value this way. the Dlask barrel is nice, but it has some small issues too. the chamber looks like it was cut by a 5 year old with a hand file, and the extra-thick barrel is a bit heavy - it weighs more than an 18.5" barrel. this can be a plus/minus depending on whether you are actually carrying the gun more than a few feet. on the plus side, i never need to worry about a dented barrel.

I think like everything else, you basically get what you pay for. I tried the Norc barrel on an 870 receiver and had issues with the front sight being tilted. Even with ghost rings it always shot to the right but it did group well. I ended up replacing it with a Dlask 14" and have no regrets.

The Dlask barrel is a lot heavier but I like the added weight when shooting slugs.

If I was to go with the Norinco barrel I would just buy the whole gun and not mix and match. You are looking at $300 for a Dlask or Factory barrel and about $400 for a complete Norc (I think).

Another guy I would try is Arwen Ace (CGN) from Tacord. He might be able to help you out and is a great guy to deal with.

yeah, thats what i recommended.
there is absolutely nothing wrong with a Grizzly barrel, except for the fact that it indexes slightly different on a Remington.
the inside finish of the Grizzly barrel is far superior to the Dlask one. the Dlask chamber is absolutely pathetic and they should be ashamed of themselves for letting barrels like that out the door. its so bad that i am afraid to polish the chamber, because so much material would have to be removed that the resulting chamber may be too loose.

this is not what i expected from a $300 barrel.

yeah, that line you see about 1/8" from the end, and some of the other ones, are pretty deep. they didnt come out too well on the photo because its so awkward to focus on it - took me about 20 photos before one sortof came out.

ordinarily if it was just very light machine marks i wouldnt hesitate to just polish it with some steel wool like many people do, but with this i am worried that it would actually require a reamer or coarse chamber hone - neither of which i have access to nor do i feel like paying a smith another $100 to fix a barrel i paid $300 for.

Have you contacted Dlask? I find they always stand behind their product.

Take it back. Joe is an easy guy to get along with.
As for not being able to manufacture your own barrels. Why not? look into it.
