I am in Van city and it seems like no one have them any more. Went to Lever, and the guy told me that evryone is short of them while the S**thead behiind the counter is packing them into the 300 rnd packages (true story). Wow. Anything to rip you off. Anywhere else have those big case for cheap prices still. I just want to shoot the heck out of my sks?

Check out CanadaAmmo in the above advertiseing header panel on the upper right corner. He has it for $169/1120 shipped. You are in the same area, maye even be cheaper for a pick up. bearhunter

For a few months now my supplier has been selling only 100 rnds at a time, and said Nobody is getting anymore of the stuff in the next while...See Proutfoo I told you so. :D

according to my calculation , lever would gain only $17.92 more by breaking up a 1120 case and repacking it into 300 rd packs.... i wonder is its worth all that extra work? addition packing cost and sales handling..... heck!! just opening the tin can took me a good 15 min.

but what other explaination would they have for repacking?

that is 17.92 x4 = $$$

Subtract min wage for employees, and then of course you can bet the ammo will now be marked up a bit in the individual bags, and there yah have it, profit...

Just guessing of course, but based on my previous retail experience...I wouldn't be surprised.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the flow of this ammo was being regulated by some of the dealers themselves, and not so much the UN or some Government agency.

well, whoever is making it hard to get will not get the best of me. I have enough ammo to fend off a small zombie invasion, and in the meantime, plenty to plink at the range :dancingbanana: It also makes an interesting computer chair to play BF2 :)

no, not $17.92 x4 but $17.92 for the whole 1120 rd crate.

cant divide a crate evenly by 300rd so there will be 220 rd left over. 1120/300= 3 pack of 300 rd .

they will make $4.80 extra profit per 300 rd pack and $3.52 on the left over.

i never been in retail so i cant say that its worth repacking but i see what you mean CALUM, its better than having your staff twiddling theirs thumbs.

i bot a crate 2 months ago after i got an emailed from canadaammo.com that they were out of stock and when i got to lever, they only had 2 crate on the floor so i bot one, never thinking they would actually run out.

Depending on the item, store policy, and many other factors the average retail mark up is around 33%. I'm not sure what Gunstores price stuff at, but it looks pretty close to that from what I have seen.

Also once things become scarce, then people are willing to pay more.
Think of the SKS as an almost free crack pipe. :p :D

Maybe so they don't get a bunch of people #####ing because they're completely out of ammo. I can picture it now: "you sold all the crates? Didn't you keep any packs? I just want to buy 50 rounds?"

At least this way if somebody wanted a days worth of ammo it can be bought. I guess I'm just not bitter because I bought my "extra reserve crate" a couple months ago. I do hope new supply comes in shortly though.

your explanation makes more sense to me....repacking for more profit wasnt the primary motive (altho it doesnt hurt) but rather they didnt want a bunch of #####ing customers who wants to buy ammo ...... especially those customers who also want to buy a SKS/CZ rifle. what good is a rifle without ammo?
