My friend has a BPS which sometimes FTE's. The hull gets stuck in the chambre, and it takes a lot of force to eject it. This happens after the gun has been shot and is warmed up. Hull will eject fine when gun is allowed to cool for a few minutes. He has checked for fowling. He is using Winchester Western target loads. I plan to give him a box of Federal target loads to try, but does anyone have any input?

If the Winchester traget loads are the one's with an aluminum like coloured case head that is the problem. Some guns have slightly rough chambers and these type of shells will stick. My 870 express did the same thing. Take a 12 gauge bore brush, wrap it with very fine steel wool. Then place on a cleaning rod section and put it in the end of a hand drill. Use a metal polish and polish the chamber for about 5 minutes. This will cure the problem. Shells without that type of case head should be fine without the polishing.

let me know if this works for you, Darryl
