12ga brass shotgun shells

Brass shells ?

I'm assuming you mean brass bottoms on em , obviously plastic tops!
You should easily be able to find ONCE FIRED win. "AA"s or Remingtons.
I personally use a Mec Sizemaster, you can usually find a Mec 600 or Jr.
floating around the sites or in the paper for $75 or so.
you,ll want 209 primers and if you check Hodgdons web site they have good loading info, 700X powder is popular, i've used green dot, clays. Plenty of choices. Check the web site.
If you buy New "AA"s or Remingtons, something decent, save the hulls.
Sometimes at the range someone with new shells doesn't reload and you can pick up theirs.

I think he means totally brass shells.

Personally, I think it's useless, unless you're pushing the limits of a shotgun. Are you wanting to make a rifle cartridge with them?

Magtech makes all brass hulls. Midway USA sells them (they don't ship to Canada though). I have 2 boxes of them primed and ready to be loaded - take a large pistol primer. The only downside of them is you need 11 gauge wads, but Tracks of the Wolf sells them, and they ship to Canada.
I even bought some waterglass to seal them up properly.

Does anyone load brass shotgun shells. What press do you use and where do you get brass shells. Any reload info as well:shotgun:

Haven't seen these in ages (besides at gun shows). They must be pretty pricey now with the price of brass going through the roof in many places.

In SXS shotguns they don't always extract like plastic does, with a sharp backwards motion and when you or someone like a range officer steps on one and crushes an empty , it is an expensive incident. They do look cool though. You don't need any presses to reload them, just a pin punch to deprime, a piece of dowel and a flat surface to prime, pour in right amount of powder, dowel to press in wads, pour in right amount of shot , place thin cardboard wad over shot , seal with waterglass or white glue. If you use black powder , throw your brass into a can or jar of soapy water and clean when you get home ,if you don't the BP salts will start to eat the case. Sometimes you will have to lube and resize the brass, I used an old Lee press that has a loose sizing ring that I forced on with a piece of pipe then forced off with the press. You can't use the press to size unless they have regular shotgun primers, some do ,some don't. Also watch what you buy because some brass cases have berdan primers and they are not as easy to use or get. I have used old brass cases I have bought at gun shows but some of them had different sized primers also, they were not large rifle and they were not shotgun. ??

I reload brass shotgun shells regularly, I don't use a press and reload them only with black powder. The BP works better as you need to use oversize wads and the bought plastic ones are too small, smokeless will give you inconsistant ignition. I use the larger card wads, felt wads, 85 grs. of 3f Goex, 1 1/8oz. of shot, i build the wad column out of the felt wads including at least one that has been soaked in BP lube, until the case is full, lastly I seat a thin card wad on top and run a bead of hot glue around edge/top. Stand and watch the faces of your buddies on the skeet range when you touch off the first round!

I bought 3 boxes of 24 gage brass shells in Cabalas last week. $15 for a boxof 25.They may have 12 gage. They will not ship to Canada.
