Hello, has anybody ever heard of a Swift Special hammerless double barrel? i'm trying to find out when it was made. it says miller morris hardware co.
Winnipeg,Manitoba…my fathers had it for over 50 years

You will have to look for some prove marks , or lack of them
Look on bottom of barrels a chamber and on the water table-
flats on reciever under the barrels.

X2 on the proof marks. I would bet you will find one with a crown and the letters ELG indicating Belgium manufacture. Most of the "house brand" hardware store shotguns came from Belgium.

There were also a lot of 'house brand' shotguns built by various factories in the States.... and they don't have proofmarks.

If it's Belgian, there will be a mark that looks like a little tower and there will be letters ELG, likely in an oval with a crown.

If it's English, the proofmarks will be either BP or BNP for Birmingham, GP for London.

If it's American, it doesn't have to have any at all.

That should get you started, anyway.
