12ga.O/U Belgian Browning Choke Mod?

Early '50's, low S/N and the question is: Should / is it safe to - have the chokes opened up for steel shot or just leave as is for upland game/ occasional trap? And, if opening up the chokes is safe to do who can recommend a 'smith in the Saskatoon area? Thanks to all for the expected comments/sharing of knowledge

Browning states that even with open chokes, the Belgium made guns are unsuitable for steel shot.

Were this my gun I'd shoot Kent Tungsten Matrix which is compatible with older, fixed choke guns.
