I have narrowed it down to three, Caesar Guerini (Tempo Light) Ruger Red Label or Franchi Renaissance. Any experience or input on these models would be appreciated. Thx..

I just recently used a friends Red Label, and I loved it. Locked up solid, pointed well and never had issues with ejection. It seemed like a well balanced gun, much better than my cheapo TOZ O/U.

Of course, it sells for around $600-$700 in the States, and almost double that here. :(

I haven't owned any of them but have shot the Guerini and the Ruger. Between the two I like the Guerini a lot better. I didn't care for the Ruger trigger pulls, safety/trigger selector and didn't like the forward balance point which gave the Ruger a cumbersome feel.

The Guerini however was quick to the shoulder and quite nimble handling. The triggers were okay and the safety more user friendly. The Tempo is also a little lighter than the Ruger which is better for carrying but means more recoil. Several guys at our club have Guerinis and speak pretty highly. I looked very seriously at a Guerini two barrel sporting clays set up in 20 and 28 gauge and if I hadn't already bought another 28 gauge gun I would have definitely bought the Guerini.

Ultimately however it's the gun that feels best in your hands and fits is best one for you.

Anyone know anything about the Franchi? I know it's new this year but the price seems right.

I am also thinking about the Ruger Red Label 12 ga (Satin Grey All Weather), but friends have pointed me toward the Browning Cynergy Field (Composite) instead. The earlier knocks mentioned about the Ruger seem to be common around our gun club as well.
All I know is the Browning is about $400 more than the Ruger, can anyone else make any comparisons between the two?

I owned the stainless/synthetic red label (12gauge) and was not impressed. I can't speak for everyone but it just didn't fit me or point very well for me. I have since sold it and I'm debating between the Browning or Beretta. For me they point better and handle better than the ruger. Oh yeah, something else I didn't like about the ruger was that after having the gun for 3 months it wouldn't fire. The firing pin spring gave (and yes I used snap caps). It took about 6 months to get it fixed on warranty (I should have just bucked up and taken it to my own gunsmith). Once it was fixed I had no problems with it again but nonetheless I wasn't very impressed with it.

Thanks all. Guess the Ruger's out. Wish I new more about the Franchi it's a lot cheaper than the Caesar Guerini.

Both Epps and Le Baron carry Franchi should you be in ON. Nice, well made firearms, I inspected a 12 and a 20ga early this year. Light, quick pointing, appropriate for Upland.

Personally, the only thing negative (should you call that as such) is the ventilated mid rib.....meaning, IMHO, extra pain maintenance perspective :p
