1301 Tactical Chrome Lining Chipping Away

I recently purchased a Beretta 1301 Gen 2 a couple months ago, and have since cycled ~150 rounds of challenger target load through it. Unfortunately, the chrome lining on the action side of the barrel seems to be chipping away. Is this kind of wear normal for such a low round count? Should I be concerned?

Yes, quality control does not seem to be Berettas strong point as of late, and forget about customer service.
This is from my new, unfired 1301 that I am stuck with, can't even install a front sight properly and then deny that there is anything wrong with it, because it is "within spec"

According to Stoeger customer service, there is "no damage ". They won't even acknowledge it...

Really??? This is unacceptable for a tactical firearm that costs the consumer close to $2000. Who in their right mind would think that would pass inspection?

Is this loss of quality the death knell of Beretta? The Turkish shotguns are looking better everyday.
 
Yeah to be honest I kinda regret buying it. I saved up for this gun, and the quality is very disapointing, especially considering the price. I should have just gotten an M4 or a cheaper Turkish shotgun.

I also had problems with my Mossberg 590 (bent elevator), but at least they were willing to fix the issue and offer a free replacement part.
 
I regret my purchase as well.

Billy, it looks like the metal that was used for your barrel is sub par and that is why there is pitting. It is a manufacturing defect, and potentially weak in the chamber area of the barrel which may be a safety issue.

Another failure to acknowledge a problem from Stoeger and pass the buck onto the consumer that supported a company that was once reputable.
Shame on you Stoeger Canada.

I did not inquire with the store. That may be an alternate recourse but I am not optimistic about that prospect either though as I have had it in my possession for about a month now.

If you have a Type 81-esque 1301 and I have the same problem, there are bound to be more out there with "bent barrels". As there never was a "bent barrel" problem with the Type 81, just the receiver aligned "off" from the barrel, the barrel itself being straight. These 1301's we have, have the front sight askew from the natural sight plane looking down the barrel, and the front sight being "fixed"(non adjustable), this is a problem and does not promote good ergonomics even before the trigger is pulled. FAIL from a tactical/ergonomic perspective.

And no disrespect meant towards the Type 81, they are good pieces of kit.

And you would have gotten the same iron sight. Did you clean the barrel from the muzzle reward, Or did you remove it?

"Gotten the same iron sight"? Really, and also installed off centre from the barrel???
No, I have not heard of Benelli M2's or M4's with sights installed off centre.
Again, you don't know what you are talking about.


And what does cleaning a shotgun barrel have to do with it? Its not like he was using 7.62x39mm Russian corrosive ammo.
The holes and pits in his barrel/chamber area looks to be an error in the metallurgic process, again a defect in manufacturing, just like the front sight issue.

Man, I'm glad I bought a Daly 601 for $400 !!! It's got Crap for rear sight ramp but I can fix that . . . with still over $1.5K left over !!
