I've had good results with a Barnes 130 TSX, WW cases, CCI 200 primers, and a fairly stiff load of IMR 4831. The TSX bullets may be more than needed for deer sized game, but they really seem to shoot good out of the rifles I've tried them in.
I've never loaded for the .270. However, if I ever got a rifle in that caliber, the first load I would try is the one suggested by Martinbns and echoed by Why not?
It's the standard Jack O'Connor load, about as classic as a handload can get.
Hi James i used 60gr of H4831 with a 130gr partition for years and it was doing 3050fps, 54gr of 4350 also was very good about the same speed and accuracy. I only used WLR primers and WW brass.
The 60/H4831 load is a good one. Another I have had unusually great success with is 60 grains of Norma MRP with the 130 Partition, and I recently worked up a load with the 130 TSX..guess what? 60.0 grains gave best results with it also. Reloder 22 should work quite similarly. Regards, Eagleye.
