What barrel length ? 2800 for the 139 Scenar seems pretty warm for a stock 260. I'm running my .260AI loads at 2850 in a 26" tube, but that's seated to cycle through an AI mag at 2.835".
sometimes I wonder how I can push 175gr SMK out of a 308 in 20" barrel at 2659 avg with no issues . thinking a 139 gr bullet would have a hard time getting a little more
the numbers you're getting from isnipe seem a little off, jbm gives me 27.2 minutes from 100 to 1000 yards at 2900 with 6.6 minutes for 10mph of cross wind and thats with 2436 ft/lbs of energy at the muzzle for the 130 vld
running the 139 at 2800 would give you the same muzzle energy and will drop 30.4 minutes and drift 7.4 minutes from a 100 yard zero...
the 130 vld is a very under-rated bullet, running litz numbers into jbm with equivlent muzzle energy's, the 130 grainer drifts the same as a 140 grain berger vld and less then both the 139 scenar and the 142 smk...
Actually, in the 6.5x47Lapua case the 130gr VLD is a good match. I'd like to hear from .260 users and their finds with the 130. I've only used the .260 AI, 6.5x55 Swede or 6.5x284 to drive the 140's slightly above 2,900 fps.
What happens when we drive the 140 VLD's to the same velocity as the 130?
