14.5" upper and barrel question

Ok ive decided I NEED a 14.5" upper now do i need a chrome lined bore? seen several barrels with chrome chamber but not bore. I shoot 55gr fmjbt reloads and i clean my ars often I shoot every sunday so maybe 2K a year through the rifle

now for the upper i am old school and prefer the iron sights (i have an eotec but dont use it much)

should I go flat top with a removeable handle or and A2 fixed carry handle?

what you guys think?

Personally, I would go with a removeable carry handle. You may wish to take it off sometime in the future.

x2 I am an iron sights guy but it's nice to have the option to put a scope on it without having to use a carry handle mount.

Definately flat top.

As far as chrome chamber and bore - totally up to you. I have unchromed, and never had any issues.

I believe non-chromed are inherently more 'accurate' - however, it may be to such a small degree as to be 'lost' by the average shooter.

Chrome lining definately resists corrosion, and mag after mag of full auto fire, better than non-lined, but for 'our' purposes, probably not required.
Of course, this doesn't explain why both of my 14.5" M4's have mil-spec heavy barrel contour, chrome lined chambers and bore, 1/7" twist, MP tested..........
PS...go with the flat top and keep your options open.

If I have it right, 1/12 twist good for 45-55gr, 1/9 is good for 45-62gr and
1/7 is good for 55 and up.

I have found my 11.5" 1/9 seems to be more accurate with 62gr than 55gr but that could be me.
