Damn...I see this stuff all the time in houses where I do bath renos...its always the 3" toilet line where is see it...theres usually 8"- 12" of it...guess I should stop throwing it in the garbage and clean it up for you guys

Houses here in Edmonton built in the 50s and 60s are sure to have some of it in the bathrooms and even up in the attic where the vent meets the roof line...Ive seen hundreds of pounds of this stuff in my day..never put two and two together until I joined CGN

I live in a house that was built in 1865, so yes, when they installed the upstairs bathroom some years later it had a lead waste pipe. That pipe is already cast into alloyed 458 for the 45-70. It was common to use lead for waste pipe on sinks and toilets years ago. Plastic is way better for the purpose, and the lead, well, we have uses for that don't we?

...so today while smelting wheel weights, i emptied the pot and melted this pipe...

...here's the result...

...about 13#/91,000 grains...or 364, 250 grain bullets...

...of SOFT lead
