Hey guys,

I have a dilemma here! I am working on a special 10/22 Nomad build, and i have bought a 12.5" threaded barrel for it, I have a particular flash hider that i really wanted to add to this, but its threaded for 14mm ccw. Now initially i thought no problem, i'd just thread the flash hider to 1/2x28.... then i realized 1/2x28 is too small to thread the hider to, as its 14mm!!! (.550). So now, if i really want to keep this flash hider (which i do!) I'll need to thread the barrel to 14mm ccw!

Can anyone point me out to a place i can get a .22 cal 14mm ccw alignment tool and die set? i looked around and cant seem to find one.

thanks for now,

ginnz

I'm far from a machinist, and I don't know exactly how your flash hider is constructed, buuuutttt...

Can you not drill out the (female? correct?) threads of your flash hider down to the roots and then press or tack-weld in a slug into it, then drill and tap the slug for your 1/2"-28 threads? (slug as in a piece of round bar, not a shotgun slug, lol)

Basically make the flash hider fit the barrel instead of the other way around.

EDIT: And, um, if you were to re-thread the barrel (which, if I understand correctly is currently threaded to 1/2" - 28, how are you going to re-thread that to 14mm anyway?)

Or do I have this backwards and the threads are female in the barrel and male on the flash hider?

man, this is gonna be tough. the FH is made of aluminium first of all..... so welding is gonna be tough. and yeah, i see 14mm ccw threads on a 12/28 threaded barrel wont work! ARRRGGG... damn. im kinda screwed here. ill have to get a machinest buddy to make it work.

ginnz.

All that is needed is a bushing or sleeve.
The flash hider could be opened out, and a 1/2-20 sleeve bonded in place.
Has to be done with a bit of care, to keep things concentric.
