15" Grizzly 'Reg. Cert' Barrel length?

Isn't it a problem if reg.cert says "barrel length 470mm or greater" but you have, say, a DLASK 12" barrel on it?

I realize the barrel is legal in this situation... but I can't help but imagine the drama that would play out in trying to explain to a Constable how it is still Non-Restricted and legal. I'm not saying you wouldn't come out clean in the end, but it would be a headache.

I'd prefer the Reg.Cert to say "barrel length less than 470mm" + Non-Restricted.

I am assuming this is what the 15" Grizzly says... correct? Anyone?

I just bought a 870 reciever only off of here and the reg cert said that it was only a reciever.I phone it in and told them i would be putting on a 14 inch barel and they said no problem and would send out a new cert:)

I'll be doing the same thing this week!

Whoa...I have both the 15" Mag and 12" pump. If I swap the barrels around, I need to get new registry certificates for both???

They can be re-registered and correct cards sent out if you go from an 18.5" barrel to shorter, but, I believe it must be done by a licensed gunsmith (or verifier) and they'll usually charge a fee for that service (althought the verifiers aren't supposed to).

I just changed my order for the 15" version since I plan on getting a shorter barrel for it. No fuss, no muss, buy barrel... install... done!

"Barrel less than 470mm" + "Non-Restricted" is the ticket! :D

I just called in to tell them I put a 14" barrel on my 870. She tried to tell me that a barrel that short would make it Restricted. I told her that it wouldn't, so she looked in the computer and said "I am showing 2 here for that barrel length, one is Non-Restricted and the other is Restricted......So I guess we will go with the Non-Restricted one.

Now my question is, why would they be showing two FRT numbers for the same gun with the same length barrel?

Just a heads up to anyone that tries to do this in the future, they may try to pull the same thing, so make sure you insist that it is Non-Restricted.

Could be that one FRT is for a 870 registered with a pistol grip only and the other with a regular stock, different OAL length, one is restricted, the other is not.
