With regards to foam, hard closed cell polyethylene foam rules. It is non-absorbent, chemically inert, and usually can be found for free (typical use - packaging for computers and other sensitive equipment). Also comes in black.

This block is an exact fit for a lockable metal ammo can. Works fine with cable locks and trigger locks (I prefer the latter).

If you are into the cheap $1.oo screw trigger locks, which I like for shows as the guns lay flat and handguns lay better if you use a lock in the display case,
one of the dealers I know has a real small little cordless screw driver with a end he made,( or I may have?) that spins those screw out in a second or so.

I bought a crud load of keyed alike trigger locks, but they have turned out not to be so useful for pistols. sliding around and annoyances like that. I now realize the wisdom and convenience of cable locks.
