150 Nos ABLR

I am in the process, with both 142's and 150 LRAB, so far have found a good load with single ES, but best group so far is 3" at 200 seated 2.955.... just waiting to have a good day to try the next batch of each, seated 30/50/80/110 and see if that works.

26" IBI carbon 7.5t
R26, no pressure signs, single digit ES
142 3100fps
150 3000fps

Also going to try R26 with Speer Impact 140 - see if that groups.

If i dont find anything, will start over and repeat with vv565.

Already tried H1000 & Magnum, they don't seem to like this barrel.

Keep you posted

Im working on two loads did one ladder test before hurting my back I put 7 rounds of a ladder for max pressure (hard bolt lift at 6+7) with superformance it was a little over .5 MOA at 100. Have a new Chrono to test over now tho and n565. So should be doing that in coming months as I heal! Planning to use it as a black bear round :)

Cheers,
B

Made it to the range yesterday
142 LRAB did not group at different seat depths, 30/50/80/110 - and am giving up on these bullets.
150 LRAB at 110 was MOA at 200. may try and tweak them a bit more and see if i can tighten up
140 Impacts - found a good load with ES 6 (between 3197-3203 with 5 shots), 2.955", it grouped 1.75" at 200. Now gonna play with seat depth -

Unless i can get the 150 LRAB to group under 1.5" at 200, I will focus on the Impact bullets for hunting.

I had a smoking accurate load with the 142 LRAB in my 6.5x55AI. Easily sub-moa out past 400 meters.
Maybe just the combo that worked. Going to try to make the work in a 6.5 CM EE

Ok, 150 LRAB shot best 80thou jump, 4 shot group into an inch at 200
140 Impact 1.25” with 30thou jump

Thats plenty good for what i plan to use them for!

Side note, there was an 8” difference in POI at 200 yds between the two loads.

I will add i switched to magnum CCI primers for final test - did seem to tighten the groups up a wee bit.
Really saw how these bullets are super finniky with seating depth. A small change made a huge diff, and a big jump was better in my rifle!
Next up i am going to shoot these LRAB and the Impacts at 100yds, into a water tub held in a 3/4” plywood box. Want to see how they hold together in this crude test

I got a couple boxes to try in the 264. With a 1-7.5 twist JC barrel. Been curious as to the seating depth. N570 works wonders with this round.

Well, sadly no consistency was found with the 142/150 LRAB. Overall the average was 4-5" at 200yds. I was certainly teased by a few good groups and low sd's tho, however none were repeatable. Even put a tuner on to see if that would find a sweet spot, but nada....Tried both with r26 and n565.
Of the 100 150 and 100 142's, i am down to 20ish in each box, and then my supply is done. So i am shelving these and sticking with the 140 Impacts (repeatable 1.25" 200 yd groups 3100fps) and have a backup with my scant supply of 156 Bergers which also shoot real good.
Can't wait for the supply chain to pick up. I am rather jazzed to try the 142 Bondstrike bullet in this rifle and see what it can do.

That sums up ABLR for me. A teaser group here and there, but often they throw fliers with the best loads you can develop. They're sleek, hold together better than an ELDx, but the lack of repeatable precision doesn't put them in the long range game for me. I said I'd never buy a box of ABLR again, then the 6.5 150 came out and I couldn't help myself :) Now at their current prices, I am even more disinterested in them

That sounds very interesting ! Years ago I shot a M700 in 264 WM and it was ok loaded it level with H870 and a 140 grer . Back in those days there was not many Good 6.5 bullets for long range Big Game killing. So I went on to rems big 7 . RJ

Hey RJ I have done some testing with the 150 LRAB in my Sako S20 6.5prc. first time to range last weekend with handful of powder charges loaded at .5 increments. Found small fps node at max book charge of H1000, 57gr, gave me same 2865fps give or .5gr, the group was .75" and .9" (4shots each, center to center). I actually talked to Chris few days ago about his testing to. All my loads I test with this bullet/powder where 1.75" or smaller at 100yds. These were all at .050" jump. I loaded few more batches from 56.5 to 58gr in .2gr increments. Watch for pressure to but has been fine especially in my lapua brass. Using fed 210 primers also. Loaded up few different jumps loads see if there tighten up there as well. Will keep you posted hoping to shoot em this weekend.
