so what's special about this one? (I don't know a damn bout sks)

For that price I'm hoping it has slain a highly ranked german officer and that was the only shot it fired.

Ya....I just finished doing the history on our sks, they definately did not use laminant stocks in 1949, on refurbs in the late 50's they did, and it is supposed to have a spike bayonet if i'm not mistaken.

There's a few points you guys are missing.
SKSs are very collectible in the US
Finding any 1949 Tula is nearly impossible
There are no more Russians coming in since the early 90s,so what is there is it.
The Obamanation threat is still real down there

Yes it is a refurb in a laminate stock with a blade bayonet. Is it worth that much? The SKSs from North Korea and Vietnam are selling for $1500 USD +,with the East German ones bringing $2500 + if you can find them for sale.

curtton i didnt know they were using laminate stocks in 1949
i thought early refurbs and late production runs only got laminat

you would be right.

Well they say there is a sucker born every minute
and out of 300 million people you are going to find as least one

make that 4 bidders and couple of more snipers that will pop up in the last 10 minutes.

Hey, maybe we could sell some of our SKS' we get cheap and make some money?!?!?!?!?!

Naw, probably not. The US State Dept. wouldn't like it.

No last minute sniping on Gunbroker. The 15 minute rule is one of the good things about that site!

why not? the 15 min rule doesnt stop sniping , all it does is extends the time , giving others an opportunatity to bid or counter, maybe even for the sniper to counter if there was a higher bid left in the system. end result higher prices , its good for the seller.

i sold item on GB where sniping was goin on, it looked like only a couple of people interested in it till the last day and then hell broke loose. i even had email asking if i had any more.

ask obiwan , how much he got for his VZ58 bipod.:D

sniping may or may not happen here cos it way up there already.

There are 1949 carbines and then there are unmodified 1949 carbines. A 1949 date alone on an otherwise thoroughly updated and several times rebuilt SKS does not an expensive collectible make.

I would not go higher than 20-30% over the price of any other refurb for that particular piece.

Huh? Please explain how you can snipe on Gunbroker?

It takes two idiots to make any auction a good one. Gun broker is fair, sniping is eliminated unless you are asleep. I like to snipe, as I find most people are not as dedicated to gb as those to ebay.
