I ran into some of both and bought them from an old fellow's estate. Does anybody have experience with these in 308 for deer? I realize both are discontinued.

Silvertips always worked very well at 308 - 30/06 velocities,I still keep an eye open for them. The solid base had a nasty habit of shedding their core , with very unpredictable results .......catnip
I was given a box of Nosler solid base bullets for my 7mm rem mag. The guy who gave them to me said his dad used them on sheep and caribou up here. They are a basic cup and core. I'd use them for deer sized game without hesitation.
